We welcome all types of therapists. Your membership level will depend on the qualifications you currently hold or are working towards.
Our entry-level membership, for example, is the Student Membership. To be accepted, you must be working towards a suitable counselling-related course at level 3 or equivalent.

Included in your annual subscription is a free listing in our Therapist Directory. This is a platform you will use to market your services to potential clients. Clients will be able to find your listing and, if it meets their requirements, message you to arrange a session.
Once you are in a position to practise you will need to protect both yourself and your clients with professional liability insurance. As an ABCAP member, you have access to excusive discounted insurance rates through our preferred insurance providers.
We are happy to offer regular deals on training courses and CPD via our accredited training providers. These range from short specialist courses to full qualifications with face-to-face training elements.
All members are issued a digital certificate showing their ABCAP membership that can be printed and displayed. You are also free to use your ABCAP digital badge, displaying your membership level, on any marketing collateral, for example, websites, emails, social media, and business cards.

Your credentials and career experience will determine your membership level. As part of the registration process, we’ll ask you to send us evidence of your studies and qualifications to ensure you are enrolled at the correct membership level.
Our student membership is specifically for those working towards their first counselling qualification. For example, you are studying a level 3 counselling course through an online training provider.
If you have a minimum of a level 3 counselling qualification (or equivalent), you should join as a standard member.
The accredited membership is designed for therapists who are already qualified at level 4 and over (or equivalent) and can evidence a minimum of 100 hours of face-to-face counselling session experience.

After you have registered, we’ll ask you to provide proof of your eligibility for your chosen level, and to agree to our member ethics policy. Once we approve your application, you’ll have access to your member certificate and all other account benefits.
As a training provider, you can apply to have your training materials accredited by us.
An accreditation from ABCAP shows your potential students that your training courses have undergone quality checks by an independent professional body to ensure that they are maintained and delivered to an excellent standard.
