I am a qualified counsellor in person centered therapy with a specialist qualification in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), an evidence based approach recommended by, amongst others, the NHS for a variety of mental health conditions.
I provide online counselling, including working as an outreach counsellor in the homeless sector, with a particular emphasis on effective short-term therapy.
I use a person centered and non-judgemental approach to create a therapeutic alliance (i.e. to work together with my clients as equal partners) to find ways to understand and deal with past experiences and present difficulties within a professional and ethical framework.
How does counselling help people suffering from grief?
Counselling helps people suffering from grief to process the loss at their own pace, to address anxiety, depression and emotional pain and to support readjusting to their loss.
How does counselling help people suffering from stress, anxiety and depression?
Counselling helps people suffering from stress, anxiety and depression to explore the cause of their feelings, to understand them and to consider ways of coping with difficult situations.
How does counselling help people suffering from internet addiction?
Internet addiction can cover a wide variety of internet uses including social networking sites, shopping, gambling and pornography.
Internet addiction can be described as a behavioural addiction that doesn’t involve the use of substances in order to feel desired side effects. If you have an internet addiction, the desire to go online may take priority over other aspects of your life and lead to the urge to spend increasingly longer periods online.
Counselling helps people to consider their reasons for feeling a need for internet connection and allow them to explore other ways of feeling connected, without digital stimulation. Exploring feelings within a private and confidential setting can be a useful way of working through behavioural addictions.
